Accounting & Accounts Payable
The Accounting Department performs the following functions in support of district operations: - Records district financial transactions in accordance with federal, state, and district regulations
- Oversees receipt and deposit of cash throughout the district
- Manages investment transactions in conjunction with the Spokane County Treasurer’s Office
- Provides fiscal reporting and other financial information to the district, the public, and state and federal agencies
- Coordinates development of the district’s budget and monitors compliance to budget
- Provides grant accounting and reporting
- Issues payments to suppliers for goods and services
- Issues payments to employees for reimbursement of travel and expense reimbursements
- Prepares billings for building rentals, reimbursements, grants, etc.
- Establishes and monitors internal controls to effectively maintain the integrity of financial records, safeguard district assets, and comply with state and federal regulations
- Acts as district liaison to the Washington State Auditor’s Office
